L'IL PEANUT QRP
Inspired by an October 1968 QST article by
Don Mix, W1TS and later by a January 2003 article "Tuna Tin II", this simple
6C4/5763 transmitter was fun to build and
is a joy to operate. My layout differs completely from those in the articles
above
and has a number of features added beyond
the bare essentials but the circuit is very close to the original. I elected
to add a
TX/RX switching relay, some shielding and
a meter. With about 250 VDC on the PA plate the rig runs about 5+ watts
out on
40M and close to 7 watts on 80M. Its first
QSO was with my long-time close friend John, VE3CSJ-50 years and one day
after
we both sat for our first ham exam in North
Bay, Ont. in 1959.
